Robert J. Gonzales

Robert J. Gonzales is a business lawyer with EmergeLaw, PLC in Nashville, Tenn., and focuses his practice on financial restructurings both in and out of bankruptcy court. He has guided hundreds of businesses through chapter 11 reorganizations, sales, orderly wind-downs and out-of-court workouts. Mr. Gonzales's clients come from every sector, ranging from small enterprises with a few employees to public companies with thousands. He also has extensive experience representing unsecured creditors' committees in chapter 11 cases, and investors of distressed assets and businesses in § 363 sales and chapter 11 plans. In addition, he has served as a court-appointed receiver for operating and liquidating businesses. Mr. Gonzales represents businesses and their owners in a wide range of corporate and transactional matters, including the buying and selling of businesses, commercial real estate and other assets. He also serves as outside general counsel to a number of companies. Mr. Gonzales is Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification, and he has consistently been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Nashville Business Journal's "Best of the Bar" and Mid-South Super Lawyers. He is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and sits on the board of directors of the Turnaround Management Association. In addition, he is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, a Fellow in the Nashville Bar Foundation and a past chair of the Nashville Bar Association's Bankruptcy Court Committee and Corporate and Commercial Practice Committee. Mr. Gonzales received his B.A. in 1990 from Louisiana Tech University and his J.D. in 1994 from Vanderbilt University Law School.
