Dennis J. Shaffer is senior counsel in the Baltimore office of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP, in the firm’s Business Solutions, Restructuring & Financial Litigation Section. He is experienced in representing clients in distressed-debt and restructuring situations, including related litigation. Mr. Shaffer has represented debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees, trustees and plan administrators in all phases of bankruptcy cases and insolvency-related matters, including complex restructurings. His representative clients include companies of various sizes, from small, closely held companies to large companies with public debt and/or equity, creditors’ committees, trustees and individuals. Mr. Shaffer has been listed in the The Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law since 2012 and is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. He is admitted to practice in Delaware, Maryland, and the U.S. District Courts for the District of Maryland and the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Shaffer is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Bar Association, is an at-large board member of the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association, is a member of ABI, and is a board member of the Chesapeake Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and the Maryland Volunteers Lawyer Service. He received his B.S. magna cum laude in 1996 from the University of Baltimore, his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and his M.B.A. in 1999 from the University of Baltimore.
